Winter Storm Preparations

By now, we’re pretty sure that everyone’s storm ready with batteries, auxiliary heat and so on. But if you’re not, today and tomorrow would be a good time to get yourself ready for a large-ish snowfall. Figure on possible blackouts in the area.

Here’s what the National Weather Service in Mt. Holly NJ has to say:

  • A Nor’easter is expected to affect the region starting late Thursday  night February 7 and going into Saturday morning February 9
  • Threats from the storm include snow, coastal flooding, and wind.
  • Snowfall amounts of 8+ inches are possible with the storm, with  highest amounts over the Poconos and northern NJ.
  • Heavy snowfall is likely to affect the Friday PM commute
  • Along the Atlantic Coast of NJ and DE, minor coastal flooding is likely;  moderate coastal flooding is possible.
  •  Wind may gust up to 35 mph inland and 45 mph in coastal areas.
  • The storm will be intensifying as it passes through the region, so  potential impacts from the storm will worsen if it intensifies faster  than currently forecast.
