Update on Bridgeton Power Outages

We just got the evening report from Met Ed.

Here it is, cut and paste directly from their email to us, with only some technical and confidential information redacted – translation into normal human terms in red.

Bucks County Plan (11/6/12)  1800 hr (6:00 PM) update

  • 75 Line Crews working in Bucks County (Line crews are a team of people with trucks and equipment to repair wires)
  • 48 Forestry Crews working in Bucks County (Forestry crews are teams who cut away trees from damaged lines and equipment)
  • Concentrating on Bridgeton, Ottsville, Tinicum, Durham,
  • Tinicum Elementry School is energized (power turned on) Tuesday 11/6 5:30 PM

The following circuits will be worked:

Working the 4.8kv/13,2 kv circuits out of  Durham, Bridgeton, TInicum   (These are the wires at the tippy-top of the pole – without these nothing works locally)

Ottsville Sub (A “substation” brings super-high voltage lines into an area and transforms it down to a lower voltage that is distributed on local poles) – Picking up more customers off of BackBone (Key Feed Lines) Remainder to be restored Today and Wednesday ***Currently 356 out of power (of the customers who’s lines can be traced back to the Ottsville substation, 356 are off)

Bridgeton Sub –  is Energized and Energizing sections of the XXX circuit (Chestnut ridge area) and XXX Circuit (River road) Remainder to restored today and Wednesday ***Currently 92 out of power

Ferndale Sub – –  Is Energized and Energizing sections of Lines. Remainder to restored today and Wednesday ***Currently 356 out of power

So, in translation – Tomorrow should conclude this for everyone.

Remember – IF THE WIRES WERE RIPPED OUT OF YOUR HOUSE, YOU WON’T BE TURNED BACK ON UNTIL YOU GET A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN TO FIX THE THING WHERE THE POWER COMES INTO THE BUILDING. (It’s called a “Weatherhead”)
